Text description provided by the architects. From the beginning of the client's requirement, he needed a small house for his family of three. The designing of the house was based on the simplicity but not too simple, the cost of technical building process should not be too much due to the responsibility of the owner. The site located close to where they used to live at that time, surrounded by neighbors' orchards and rice fields.
The architect chose to design with gable roof which is the common use of basic house structure suited with the tropical climates. The house was two-storey house, the lower floor is for living and the upper floor is for bedrooms which extended to the South to get the whole year sunlight. In addition, shadow will be occurred in the lower function space by this arranging of bedroom and bathroom. According to this zoning, living room, dining room and the open plan kitchen will get all day wind flow from the height of the ceiling which connected to the upper level of the house. The windows were all high fixed with void on the roof to get the natural direct light from the North to use within the house while protecting from the heat. The north part of the house was designed with space of outdoor balcony for all day activities by setting the house as a shield from the sun.
For exterior material used, Brick wall in most part of the building because brick is a local material which can be found easily in reasonable price. Bricks were arranged with void in private area creating ventilation but dense to protect sunlight in some area.
